EduApps: Revision Buddies for GCSE on iOS and Android

Supporting: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths, History, RE, French, Geography.

Whilst youngsters appear to be fixated to their mobile devices, it makes sense to use this fascination to help them revise for forthcoming exams.

The Revision Buddies series of apps, for iPhone or Android, is a great collection of apps which can support pupils revising for the following subjects:

RevisionBuddiesicon_marketing_image_square_90percentThe complete versions of the apps are priced at £3.98* (Android) or £3.99* (ios), with bundled packages available at a discount – with the entire collection and the science apps grouped in iOS bundles that can be bought at a 50% discount, plus are part of the VPP programme, allowing bulk purchases for teachers with over the air access to students. Lite (free) versions of the apps are also available.

Each app is written in accordance with the requirements of the AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam boards, with the ability to adapt the app to your wants and needs. As well as providing progress reports students can also share their progress with friends on Facebook and Twitter or email parents/teachers. They can even upload their results to dropbox or, for those that are at schools that are integrated with Firefly, use the ‘open in’ function of the firefly student/teacher planner app as part of their homework.

All apps are written by qualified teachers, examiners or academics, with each app containing over 1,000 multiple choice question and detailed explanations. They are designed to ensure that students retain all the facts that they need for their exams, and that they can also further their understanding and boost their confidence. With the progress reports parents and teachers can see the gaps in learning, and focus revision time around it accordingly.

In the future the app developers are looking to introduce teacher dashboards, adaptive algorithms and live peer to peer leader boards, transforming revision from a solo occupation to a collaborative, interactive exercise and ultimately making this time more effective in order to help students get the best results they can.
