Guidance teacher assessment exemplification: KS1&2 English writing released

Exemplification material for English writing to support accurate teacher assessment at the end of key stage 1 (children aged 6-7 in Year 2 of primary school) in 2016 have been released by the Standards and Testing Agency for schools in England.

Key stage 1 (KS1) exemplification material to support teacher assessment (TA) of each pupil at the end of KS1 in 2016. This guidance should be used with the 2016 interim TA frameworks.

It should be used by:

  • teachers to make accurate and robust TA judgements
  • local authorities when training schools and moderators

The exemplification shows examples of pupils’ work at the standards detailed in the interim TA frameworks. There are annotated and unannotated versions available to aid training. The interim TA frameworks are for 2015 to 2016 only. The Department for Education is evaluating options for future years.
