–Recently added to the UKEdChat Apple EduApps page is Things to Think About, by Jackson County Intermediate School District in the USA. Highlighted by @ICTMagic, the app is a great bank of discussion prompts to spark thinking and encourage written responses from pupils.
Teacher, Joyce King, started collecting prompts that encouraged her pupils to think and write, but whilst using the prompts Brad Wilson took the idea to digitise the prompts, to make them even more engaging. Therefore, in a district project, more than 60 2nd-5th grade students accepted the challenge to illustrate and narrate the prompts, which are now embedded into this app.
As illustrated by these screenshots, the prompts are centred around the children’s work, and by pressing the audio button within the screen, the question is read out by one of the pupils who were involved in the project.
This app can easily be used as a whole class tool, being displayed and discussed in circle time, philosophy sessions etc., in small groups to promote discussions, or as a family game.
