– The Chambers Thesaurus

Recently added to our EduApps page is The Chambers Thesaurus is one of those really handy apps students and teachers can have at their disposal when trying to improve writing skills. No one is denying that book versions of using a dictionary and thesaurus are key skills which should be taught and mastered in schools, yet having this app handy can certainly support fluency in the writing process. The app is uncomplicated in its use, easily allowing for words to be typed in, and the responses speedily displayed, plus relevant antonyms also being displayed.

We are not advocating that this app should be used until pupils have a proficient understanding and acquired key skills in using dictionaries, with a grasp of how they work – this app can speed up searching for alternative words when a thesaurus is not at hand. The app is well constructed, easy to use, and a great addition to enhance a writers creative ability exponentially! Priced at £2.99*, the app is available for Android, iPhone/iPad by clicking the App Store above.

*Price correct at time of publication. Updated 05 February 2014. – We reviewed using the iPad App.
