Education App: Stick Around by Tony Vincent & MorrisCooke

StickAroundiPadFans of the iPad are quick to enthuse about the power of app Explain Everything, which allows teachers and/or pupils access to an easy-to-use design, screencasting, and interactive whiteboard tool that lets you annotate, animate, narrate, import, and export almost anything to and from almost anywhere.Indeed, it has proved to be a popular download in our EduApps list and the app is widely used in classrooms worldwide, and also available for Android.

The creators of Explain Everything, MorrisCooke, have now launched a new app to their portfolio, and it’s another one that will enthuse teachers and pupils who use iPad technology within their classrooms.

Play, design, and share sorting and labelling puzzles! Stick Around comes with an assortment of puzzles, including ordering decimals and classifying rocks. It’s the player’s job to drag the stickers from the tray to their correct spots on the background before time runs out.

Stick Around allows the creation of puzzles, using the drag and drop technique designed within the app, helping revision of learning outcomes, or pupils to use creating their own revision aide.

Creating new projects is simple, with the option of creating a blank canvas or using one of the pre-designed templates OS 2 columns; definitions; largest to smallest; timeline; or Venn diagram as examples.

In this regard, Stick Around has great potential to be used as a formative classroom tool, allowing teachers and pupils to check understanding, using intuitive features to help the creation of activities to support teaching, learning and assessment. The app could even be used independently by pupils in working out a puzzle, or to prove their understanding of a concept. Below is a promotional video of the app, showing some of the uses and features…

Stick Around is priced £1.99* and available from the Apple App Store.
