It’s great to have a general ‘buzz’ in your classroom – it can be an indicator of pupils working together, extending their learning. Managing noise levels in the classroom can be a challenge. There are times when working in silence is necessary, but the boundaries of what is acceptable noise can sometimes be difficult to monitor. This is where Too Noisy iPad app can come to the rescue, using the sensitive microphone within the device, to clearly show the noise level in the classroom.
[pullquote]The app is customisable, with various fun background graphics[/pullquote]Using a speed-monitor graphic, the app constantly listens to the noise levels, with the option to award the class ‘stars’ if the noise level stays low for 2-minute periods. If noise levels get too high (hopefully, pupils won’t see this as a challenge) the graphic breaks the iPad screen – don’t worry, it’s only a graphic – and the challenge starts again. The app is customisable, with various fun background graphics, and various other features.
There is also a free version of the app, which is available here, but the features within are limited. The full version of the Too Noisy app is priced at £1.99* and a great class management tool. Click here to view in the Apple App Store, or click the logo below.
