Education App: The Alan Peat Pocket Punctuation App

Following the success of Alan Peat’s Pocket App of Exciting Sentences, a new app is now available focusing on helping pupils understand the complexities of punctuation.

Offering a definitive set of definitions, plus a range of teaching strategies and tips, this is a great app for teachers to help pupils get to grips with the many different rules embedded with the formalities of writing.

The app explores: full stops; ellipses; question marks; exclamation marks; brackets; quotation marks; colons; semicolons; forward slash; the dash; the hyphen; the apostrophe; paragraphs, and; commas. In fact, we’re pretty concerned about the punctuation within this article(!), however it does provide a great reference tool as well as offering teaching ideas on how you can support pupils come to terms with punctuation in their writing.
