Giving pupils the chance to explore the marvel of our planet is becoming a lot easier, thanks to advances in technology – see the UKEdMagazine article by Julian Woods which show various sites which use Google Maps to help explore areas around the globe.
A new iPad app, AirPano Travel Book, is a collection of unique spherical photo panoramas of the most amazing places in the world shot from a bird’s eye view. Unlike conventional photographs, spherical 360° photo panoramas allow viewers to rotate an image, change the ?eld of view, and zoom in on a particular detail.
You can explore various cities of the world, historical locations, beaches, night landscapes, witness volcanic eruptions, amazing lakes, mountaintops, and waterfalls.
AirPano is a non-pro?t company created by a small group of Russian photo enthusiasts, focused on aerial high-resolution spherical panoramas.
Today, AirPano is the largest spherical panorama resource in the world based on geographical coverage, number ?of aerial photographs, and artistic and technical quality of images. The www.AirPano.com website features over 2000 panoramas with aerial views of over 200 of the most famous locations in the world and is also worthy of visiting.
This is potentially a great classroom tool, and the photographs are stunning allowing for close exploration of notable areas on our planet.
AirPano Travel Book for iPad is priced £1.99* and available from the Apple App Store by clicking the icon below:
