Brickapic: Turn a Picture LEGO® brick mosaic!

Do the pupils in your class love LEGO®? Do you hear sighs of disappointment when they have to tidy it all up? Children’s creativity is well and truly in full play with this popular toy, but thinking how to direct the play can be challenging.

BrickapicOne KickStarter project is trying to raise funds to turn pictures into LEGO® brick mosaics, but as part of their development, the developers have launched a webpage that does the work for you – so now you can set the challenge to pupils to convert a picture into a LEGO® brick mosaic! We tried it with the UKEdChat Twitter logo 🙂

With Brickapic, you simply upload a photo to the site, wait for the magic to happen, then you will see your image in a  LEGO® brick mosaic. The site allows you to move your mosaic to view different angles, but we had to screen capture the final version as there is no image saving option.

So, if you have thousands of the plastic bricks laying around home or school, give it a go. You can ask the site to use only LEGO® colours, but this is an experimental feature on the site.

We’d love to see any creation made…so if you challenge your children to create a mosaic from LEGO® bricks, please send us a tweet or let us know via our contact form.
