EduApps: Comparison of Office Suite Apps for Tablets

Google (Documents, Sheet & Slides)

OfficeGoogleNow available on Android and iPad, Google offer their three main office applications free of charge, making it easily available for educators. The online applications offer most of the main features as the online versions, yet also offer the option to work offline on documents, which get saved the next time the tablet is connected to a network. The features and functionality of the three apps will be familiar, and are less complicated than the other main applications.

In our opinion: With many teachers signing up for Google for Education accounts, and also built for use on ChromeBooks, this is our favourite suite of Office application for education. With the option to work offline, these apps allow for ‘no-fuss’ use, as well as keeping financial budgets under control.

Pros – Free, multi-platforms, fuss-free, offline working – they do what they are supposed to do!

Cons – Not as pretty as other office apps and takes some getting used to (but we’re clutching at straws really!).
