The iPad Storybook app is designed to strengthen literacy, reasoning, and enquiry skills – in and beyond the classroom, offering a wealth of paleontological facts and fictions, enough to satisfy the most curious of minds. Using the intuitive Word Wheels, children can construct thousands of questions to ask Darwin, the in-game learning buddy, who answers in a child-friendly voice.

Aimed at children aged between 4 and 10, the app includes engaging dinosaur characters to add fun and adventure, and targeted content featuring over 1,000 questions. The Storybook activities are beautifully crafted, allowing children to experiment with verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

Using the on-screen direction wheel, it is easy to navigate around the beautifully illustrated world, which can then be developed allowing children curate adventures into a shareable storybook.

This app has a lot of classroom potential, and could easily be used in a whole-class, small-group or individual situation. It could be fantastic used in a whole class situation on a IWB, giving pupils choices and a stimulus for writing great adventures for the baby dinosaur, with lots of fantastic illustrations and detail to help develop ideas and writing. This is certainly an app which teachers, who use iPads in their primary/elementary classroom, simply must explore. It contains rich content, and offers a lot of classroom potential.
