View what Mars Curiosity sees in 360 degrees via VR

Step onto Mars, from your classroom

For those teachers who are embracing the opportunities for learning with virtual reality (via Google Cardboard etc), then you can now allow your pupils to explore the Martian landscape, viewing what NASA’s Mars Curiosity sees in the 360° world of VR (spotted via @NASAJPL).

Just set the your Smartphone inside your Google Cardboard, and run this video via the YouTube app, which then allows you a view of the surface of Mars, replicating what NASA’s discovery Mars Curiosity robot sees. If you do not have any VR equipment handy, you can still explore the views by dragging your finger or mouse within the video.
