Whip up a brilliant bake sale for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

Schools and educational centres across the UK are being invited to cook up a tasty ‘Bake it Better’ bake sale this May, with all funds raised supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) Children’s Charity.

GOSH Charity is encouraging schools, nurseries and playgroups to get involved with the popular fundraiser between 21-27 May. The charity is inviting the next generation of budding bakers and patisserie pros, teacher and pupils alike, to roll up their sleeves, don their aprons, and bake up tasty treats to raise vital funds that will help support children cared for at GOSH, and their families too.

Bringing Bake It Better bake sales into an educational setting not only provides lots of fondant fun, but also encourages children to learn and develop their skills. Following recipe instructions and measuring ingredients can encourage children to learn about numeracy and instructions in an enjoyable and practical way. Teachers and students can become budding bakers together, to help build a strong team spirit and encourage others within their local communities to ‘get their bake on’ too.

Every penny raised will make a huge difference to seriously ill children from across the UK who are cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital. It could fund pioneering medical research, buy state-of-the-art medical equipment, provide support services for children and their families like parent accommodation so mums and dads can stay close by while their child is being treated overnight at GOSH, and help the rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

Laura Savory, Head of Community Fundraising at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, says: ‘I encourage all budding bakers to sign up and bring their baking skills back to schools, clubs, community groups and educational centres.  It’s the perfect way to enjoy learning a new, fun and practical skill. Every bake sale will help make a real difference to children from across the UK who are cared for at GOSH, so we really do ‘knead’ you!’
