Stemming the Flow of Teachers Leaving the Profession

If you are seriously considering leaving the profession, then consider taking some time out but not every school is the same. Don’t give up entirely. Remember the reason why you trained and try and recapture that again. Teachers do so much and have many skills to offer, so talk your decision-making process through with someone before making a decision. If the job is affecting your family life, health/wellbeing or anything else that’s non-negotiable then do it.

Lots of schools are good and a change of scenery might help but jobs will be there if you leave and then need to come back. Don’t let your health/life suffer. Easier said than done sometimes, but think about trying another school if where you currently work is toxic or doesn’t have a well-being programme or the workload is unmanageable due to unrealistic expectations.
