#UKEdChat session 474 – There are both pros and cons during the first few weeks of the new academic year. The students, and hopefully the teachers, are usually on their best behaviour where any behaviour issues can be dealt with with the raising of an accusative teacher eyebrow in the direction of the indiscretion. Yet, the pupils are often yet to come out of their shells and offer their full potential during their interactions, and everyone moves ahead slowly and cautiously, staying very much within comfort zones.
The beginning of the year is a crucial time, but so is the period some weeks after the class first meet the teacher, and the tone and direction the class take after the honeymoon period begins to wane will shape the class dynamics for the rest of the year.
