  3. @UKEdSch A1 it opens up a wide range of opportunities & is excellent CPD #ukedchat
  4. #UKEdChat Q1 again...

  5. Can't wait to see the answers - we are in the middle of PD about using Twitter professionally! #ukedchat
  6. @ukedchat #UKEdChat A1鈥ts all about sharing and receiving Ideas that can be used and adapted for teaching 馃榾
  7. @UKEdSch A1 It helps you reflect and think about what your values are/where your interests lie/what is important to you as a teacher #ukedchat
  8. Hi, I'm Noa. A sci T from Israel. Nice to have a chat in normal hours. #ukedchat
  9. @ukedchat Connectivity with fellow educators, who you might not otherwise have met and who offer diff perspectives; challenge your thinking #UKEdChat
  10. @ukedchat Would like to think it is for public spirited reasons, but building CV fodder is important for individuals, esp in early career. #UKEdChat
  11. @KaraGuiff Twitter is great for building my #pln. Problem is I don't know any EU chats, and the time difference makes it hard to follow US #ukedchat
  12. #UKEdChat Q2
What are the disadvantages of putting oneself publicly online as a professional?
Use the hashtag in your tweets https://t.co/vUmab0bMYL
#UKEdChat Q2 What are the disadvantages of putting oneself publicly online as a professional? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/vUmab0bMYL
  13. A1 #ukedchat grow and develop a professional network to promote growth and collaboration
  14. @UKEdSch A2 you can open yourself up to alot of criticism from certain quarters #ukedchat
  15. @ukedchat Like opening up in any public forum, one opens up to ridicule, strong opposing views and aggression to varying degrees. #ukedchat
  16. A2 #ukedchat just because you talk the talk doesnt mean you walk the walk, and intollerance of different views by some
  17. @ukedchat A2 I think it's easy to get caught up in a Twitter bubble. Opinions can become so dominating that you can lose your own voice. #ukedchat
  18. #UKEdChat A2 Intonation gets lost. People can take your message totally the wrong way and use your content as fodder 馃槼
  19. @ukedchat Not everyone is comfortable putting themselves into the public arena. Can be consequences for career in future if wrong thing said #ukedchat
  20. #UKEdChat Q2 again...
What are the disadvantages of putting oneself publicly online as a professional?
Use the hashtag in your tweets https://t.co/70Kdqtv8kW
#UKEdChat Q2 again... What are the disadvantages of putting oneself publicly online as a professional? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/70Kdqtv8kW
  21. @ICTmagic @ukedchat Can be more toxic for some groups than others. I know a black teacher whose SM was monitored by HT
  22. #ukedchat A2 the risk that my 'professional' might slip and my 'angry cussing harlot' might come busting out.
  23. @GilchristGeorge I absolutely agree, George. Open-mindedness and respect is needed. Above all else, not believing your own hype. Stay grounded. #ukedchat
  24. A2: specifically for twitter there's a learning curve with lingo, and for me personally, the English, I'm not a native speaker. #ukedchat
  25. @DiLeed @ukedchat Monitoring of social media from SLT seems to be common these days. Perhaps they might learn something from Twitter while doing it 馃槣#ukedchat
  26. #UKEdChat Q3
What are the best platforms for educators to interact online?
Use the hashtag in your tweets https://t.co/j3DES3vquj
#UKEdChat Q3 What are the best platforms for educators to interact online? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/j3DES3vquj
  27. @ICTmagic @ukedchat The HT? Hard to make that happen. The actual result as far as I can see is necessary adoption of guarded anonymity.
  28. @janbaker97 @ICTmagic @ukedchat Really? I don't remember you being particularly controversial. Were you?!
  29. @UKEdSch #UKEdChat definitely twitter! There are so many educational professionals on here to interact with!
  30. #ukedchat you need to recognise social media provides only one small part of teacher voice, can lose perspective
  31. @DiLeed @ukedchat I believe that teachers should be professional online, but it is too easy to take things out of context when peeps *want* to. #UKEdChat
  32. Within a Facebook group, you can focus on a certain field of interest. #ukedchat
  33. @janbaker97 @DiLeed @ukedchat Wow! Serious infringement of your civil liabilities. What would the consequences have been?
  34. @ICTmagic @ukedchat In this case it was policing pure and simple. I see you were tagged at that event. Did you go?
  35. @UKEdSch A3 Twitter, I've got a FB page and I've started putting pedagogy videos on youtube #ukedchat
  36. @ICTmagic @DiLeed @ukedchat what they always are... you suddenly become "not good" at your job!
  37. @supervxn @KaraGuiff To meet online first then to meet in reality. I have some awesome friends in real life I met via edu conversations on Twitter. #UKEDChat
  38. #UKEdChat Q3 again...
What are the best platforms for educators to interact online?
Use the hashtag in your tweets https://t.co/oAn4zqF6JA
#UKEdChat Q3 again... What are the best platforms for educators to interact online? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/oAn4zqF6JA
  39. And, using #Twitter, you can invite fellow teachers to meet up #IRL in real life, e.g. at #EdCampMercurius . #ukedchat
  40. @UKEdSch A3 I've set up a website where I can keep all things teaching connected in one place - blog, vids, podcast etc.#ukedchat
  41. Some awesome friendship made due to networking on twitter. #UKEdChat
  42. #UKEdChat Q4
How can schools support teachers building a professional presence online?
Use the hashtag in your tweets https://t.co/eBRglRCJW6
#UKEdChat Q4 How can schools support teachers building a professional presence online? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/eBRglRCJW6
  43. @UKEdSch Yes. Hold a teachMeet. Knowing that there is a room of teachers on twitter talking about education. #UKEDChat
  44. A4 It's always a bit easier when your own headmaster is part of your network on Twitter. 馃槈 #ukedchat
  45. @UKEdSch A4 there needs to be a designated person at work who deals with it and provides specific training #ukedchat
  46. @UKEdSch Yes #Twitter. I run a weekly music ed chat @mufuchat. I have regulars and new visitors- every week is different and vibrant #UKEdChat
  47. @KaraGuiff Did you try @MicrosoftEDU Skype-in-the-classroom? You should check it out. Ts who want to connect leave their details. #UKEDChat
  48. @ukedchat A4 I think just voicing the fact that 'they' (LT) support it helps more people take the leap. #ukedchat
  49. @UKEdSch A4: Identifying those who already have a presence and get them to 'sell' the idea to others. What benefits have there been? #ukedchat
  50. @UKEdSch Schools to run own webchats, or host existing webchats. Promote on website and other social media #UKEdChat
  51. @nickotkdV @UKEdSch in an ideal world everyone, but someone who carries out CPD on it to start with #ukedchat
  52. I've only just set this account for professional interaction with other educators. Hopefully to steal some ideas too. 馃槈 #UKEdChat
  53. @nickotkdV That's exactly it! We model things to our students... why not to staff? #ukedchat
  54. @ukedchat These days, an online professional social presence should just be encouraged, it should be required. Simply no better CPD! #UKEdChat
  55. #ukedchat leaders need to model what they seek, then could create school-specific platforms to get teachers engaged, to dip toes in water
  56. @ElizabethECharl @janbaker97 @ukedchat Professional discussion it what moves education forward. Silencing teachers and pushing them to a hermitage leads to stagnation. #UKEdChat
  57. #UKEdChat Q5
What are the best strategies for building an online professional following, & the best ideas for the camera shy? https://t.co/HqvBhQar5B
#UKEdChat Q5 What are the best strategies for building an online professional following, & the best ideas for the camera shy? pic.twitter.com/HqvBhQar5B
  58. A5 You have to give it time. A strong network doesn't build itself within a couple of months. #ukedchat
  59. @UKEdSch A5 get involved in some chats, put something online that ppl are interested in or can use #ukedchat
  60. A5: Share! When you're on twitter, you see amazing Ts sharing their work and it invites you to do the same. #ukedchat
  61. #UKEdChat Q5 again... What are the best strategies for building an online professional following, & the best ideas for the camera shy?
  62. A5 And don't be afraid to post things that seem (too) obvious to you. These posts can inspire other people! #ukedchat
  63. @ukedchat Love sharing things... After that, everything else falls into place. #UKEdChat
  64. @teacherchalky1 @UKEdSch Many apps out there to create quick images, quotes, ideas that you can tweet and not have to put yourself out there #UKEdChat
  65. A5 Don't be afraid to make mistakes, even when online. We can all learn from them. #ukedchat
  66. @HendrikxHans True. With all the buzz words going on, people forget that good pedagogy wasn't invented in a breakout room or makerspace. #ukedchat
  67. @SJagdevPowell @UKEdSch I put on daily revision tasks, and lots of photos of things I've done at work #ukedchat
  68. be honest, take part in discussion with own opinions and share examples of good practice - your own or others work  https://twitter.com/ukedchat/status/877976234713636864
  69. #UKEdChat Q6
Finally, what is the best advice for teaching professionals to 鈥榙o it right鈥 online?

#UKEdChat Q6 Finally, what is the best advice for teaching professionals to 鈥榙o it right鈥 online? Use the hashtag in your tweets pic.twitter.com/hwop4IiSyb
  70. A6 Follow your instinct. And later on: Follow the #leader. 馃ぃ #ukedchat
  71. @UKEdSch Keep it to the point, keep it real, avoid ranting and don't use lots of emojis 馃ぁ馃崵馃 #UKEdChat
  72. @ICTmagic Hey, I saw your post to #ukedchat right now. I'd like to join the next live stream. When is it?
  73. @UKEdSch A6 Be professional not personal, don't put anything on you wouldn't want students seeing #ukedchat
  74. #UKEdChat Q6 again...
Finally, what is the best advice for teaching professionals to 鈥榙o it right鈥 online?

  75. @ukedchat Difficult. As a post 16 specialist I think I have to have fun with my Twitter and encourage Networking rather than chat. Aim for work & fun
  76. A6 #UKEDChat engage in discourse, don't just lurk, express your views, share your experiences, listen, be polite,be authentic & professional
  77. Thanks everyone for a great chat! Nice to meet you. #ukedchat
  78. It was nice to meet all of you and be part of #UKEdChat. Have a nice evening, and maybe we'll see each other soon! Greetings from Belgium!馃嚙馃嚜
